5B. PLUMB AND 90° EAVE TRIM
Question #1:
What is the difference between a plumb and a 90° eave?
A plumb-cut eave has no fascia board, while a 90° eave does
A plumb-cut eave has fascia and rafter tails cut perpendicular to the ground, whereas a 90° eave has them cut perpendicular to the roof slope
90° eaves are exclusively used on flat roof systems
A plumb-cut eave cannot accommodate a gutter system due to its vertical drop

How do you ensure that you don’t cut your tab too short or too long?
Guess and adjust
Use a ruler
By scribing a line on your trim along the edge of the roof
Use pre-measured tape

What do you do on the lapping edge of the trim before you install it?
Tape it down
Apply caulk
Crimp the lapping edge of any and all trim
